Dolores and Martin Steiner Award

Senior Citizen Volunteer Award from Miles City Area Chamber of Commerce

Together Dolores and Martin Steiner have put in over 21,000 hours of volunteer time for their community serving in a variety of many different capacities from being an Activities Assistant helping our local veterans to giving comfort to Hospice patients.   Most of the time you will find Martin and Dolores volunteering together.

Martin joined RSVP in 1997 and has contributed (as of December 2011) over 15,200 hours of his time.  One of Martin’s volunteer supervisors says “He’s a jack of all trades.”  She went on to say, “Martin provided computer tech services and helped with whatever I needed.”

Martin has assisted with the Empty Stocking Program, Habitat for Humanity, Miles City Fire and Rescue, St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store, Miles City Soup Kitchen, and VA Montana Health Care System to name a few non-profits that benefit from his services.  Currently he volunteers at Holy Rosary Healthcare in medical records, at the information desk and hospice.  This along with all the other volunteer activities he does keep him very busy.

Prior to retirement Dolores was the Activities Coordinator at Holy Rosary Extended Care.  Following her retirement she continues to volunteer with activities at the facility.  Dolores is also a regular volunteer at Friendship Villa Care Center, Holy Rosary Hospice, and in the medical records department at Holy Rosary Healthcare.  Additionally, in the past year Dolores has volunteered as a ticket taker for American Legion baseball games, office assistant at Sacred Heart Parish School, St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Store, and as an activities assistant at both TLC Assisted Living and the VA Montana Health Care System.

Martin and Dolores are both members of COPS (Citizens on Patrol).

Dolores and Martin almost missed the Volunteer Appreciation Tea held in April 2010 because they had to finish volunteering at the hospital before they could come.
